32" lcd monitor, not a tv/monitor, should have a higher resolution than your typical 17" monitor. However, this doesn't mean that things will necessarily look better.

in fact, it may do the opposite because your video card will have to work harder to display at a higher resolution, therefore making everything pretty choppy.

not to mention that everything will be HUGE in comparison.

it will look just as good with the same resolution when you look at it from a distance. that's really the big advantage of having a bigger monitor - that you can see it better from a longer distance.

as far as quality of the image is concerned, that all varies on your pc equipment. if you upgrade your PC with a high end video card, it might look much better. in general, it will make it look just as good or possibly a bit worse.

as far as recommendations are concerned, i would get an nvidia 8800 class video card or higher if you plan on using it with the maximum resolution that your lcd monitor will support. trust me, it'll slow down significantly once you boost your video resolution up.

If you have a video card that can handle the native resolution AND play games at "reasonable" settings, I'm talking 1600 x 1200 with full AA and AF settings then yes, it should look pretty good. Though, I haven't the faintest idea what the native resolution of a 32" LCD monitor is. (Is this a monitor or a TV, note they are not the same thing).

If you don't have a card that can neither support the native resolution of the monitor or not play games at those settings then I would do one of two things, get better video cards or get a smaller display.

I don't know what graphics card could push that much power within a reasonable budget. A single Geforce 8800GT might be able to do it, I honestly don't know. Dual Geforce 8800GT or Geforce 8800GTX cards would probably be more than capable of doing what you want. If you have the money, go for it. If you don't have the money, consider a smaller widescreen display and make sure to get one with HDCP support to future proof the system.

The poster Blitzkrieg is 100% right in every way!! If your getting a 8800 gts you will definatly want to go with widescreen. All pc games support widecreen there is no fussing with anything you just set the resolution in the game your playing to match your desktop resolution and there you go, and even if the game doesnt support widescreen newer graphics cards auto conform the image to your monitor so you will never notice a differance. One more thing all FPS's and RTS's and pc games for that matter are designed and optimized for widescreen. If you ever go to a pc game tournament i 100% guarantee you will not see one person using anything other than a widscreen monitor.

see the resolution of this monitor
I know some at 32 inches have pretty low resolutions (1280x720), because they are meant for displaying HDTV.

I know the some monitors like the 24 in Dell ultra sharp and Apple cinema displays (24 and 30 inches) have high resolutions like 2560x1920. These Dell and apples run between $1,500-$3000 range

you only need to get a high performance graphics card if your gonna get a high resoultion monitor. A nvidia with at least 256 mb will be a good choice

LCD's are really bad and they get burn patterns easily. you should get a plasma instead, they are a little more money but worth it.
