Hi there, I am trying to get an external monitor connected to my laptop. I have a VGA port, which seems to be defective - not showing any image, just blank screen whatever I do. I was thinking of a possibility to connect an external monitor using s-video output which works just fine when I connect a tv. Is this possible? I don't seem to find many adaptors around. Thanks in advance.

The vga port seems problematic, neither switching from keyboard by pressing Fn + F3 (the special function keys), nor trying to extend the desktop from settings works. I did a clean reinstall, new ATI drivers, works fine with s-video->TV, nothing with an external monitor connected to VGA.

This, my friend, and your stereo and it's speakers, was the answer by bluetooth. The bluetooth standard was much more than a replacement of infrared. I had the same thought about stereos and it's speaker wires and was told that bluetooth can do it. But it doesnt exist. The trick is you need to "broadcast" the video that you have to the LCD monitor and theres no way to preserve the resolution with current methods - that is to broadcast it via RF modulator, like a video game console does.

you may need to use a converter to connect the VGA cable with S-Video. I think you VGA setting on you laptop is turn off, can try to turn on at Control Panel > Display Setting > Setting > enable the 2nd monitor.
