Hi All, thanks for yr replies. 1. Have pressed button on underside of mouse but wheres the one on the receiver? 2. How do I set the computer to use mouse instead of pad? 3. How do I tell receiver mouse is active? 4. Have moved mobile and landline further away and 5. I told you I was useless at computer technology - please don't suggest I'm a lost cause and should just watch the telly!!!! I must say the responses I get on here are much better and a darn sight quicker than our IT department at work.

My drives don't work, both of them don't work, not the cd or dvd drive.
And it has a yellow caution icon next to it. I've read on other questions that they need to replace the driver or correct the settings. But i don't know how to correct the settings SO I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATED IF SOMEONE COULD EXPLAIN TO ME STEP BY STEP ON HOW TO CORRECT THE SETTINGS.

Also if you think its something else could you tell me. thank you very much.

I cannot find any information on the temperature rating for my Seagate drives. Here are the model numbers:
ST320082 2AS - 200GB SATA
ST380013 AS - 80GB SATA

I would like a link to the technical specifications of those drives.

I just got a new laptop and one of the features it has is lightscribe. How good does this actually look on CDs and DVDs? Is it worth buying the special disks to make the labels with? Thanks!

I friend of mine just called to ask what does one long, continous beep mean when starting the computer up?

The computer makes ONE long continuous beep noise as long as the computer is on, and never boots to Windows XP.

This is an HP Athlon XP 3000+ processor with 512 mb.

I think it may be the memory or the video but I'd like to know for sure before I go over to her house.

What does that mean?
Does that mean the computer takes a 250 watt supply.
If so how do I check my computer to see if it takes a 250 watt supply.
I have a Compaq 5441

When I play games, even low end ones it still randomly crashes. I think the card might have burned out but i'm 14 so chances of being able to disect my laptop are thin. It's a Nvidia GeForce FX Go5600 (SONY). When I run DxDiag it says everything is ok. I can't find any driver updates so I really do have a problem. Please help!!!

I am currently using 760mb of RAM and have a ATI Radeon 9250 PCI card(2.8Ghz Celeron). I do not have a AGP or PCI-E slot. Will boosting my computer to the maximum 2GB of RAM make the stutter on my new games stop(Need For Speed Carbon has stutter problem while being passed and while making fast turns or corners.).

I'm running XP Pro on a Pentium III at 664 MHZ with 128 MB RAM with high speed Internet (Cable). The machine works fine but the web pages seem awful slow... several second delays for a page to load. Is this a result of all the firewall/virusscan/security etc. and Windows updates? Or is this machine so old that I can't expect better performance and I have to just buy a new machine? Some other factor (s)?
Your thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks

but they offered to fix it under guarantee/business user policy. Laptop was bought from store by my partner on 22.12.06 and collected in store by her. I asked for refund/exchange after 23 days which they refused. Put me through to techies and spent a long time on phone trying to resolve problem but still persists. Is this within PC World's advertised Policy? Is now 30 days and laptop still faulty (sometimes won't wake up from standy) though is not a big problem though not the point imo.

Its actually an old laptop a tecra780 DVD. Its like 10 years old. I bought this because i wanted to try a software. and this software only runs under old operating system(windows 2000). Its a really slow computer. For a system start up takes about 10 mins . To load a page about 5 mins . Its super slow. Why is that? And how can i fix it?
But first tell me why?
