this happens to me some times after i burn a disc. usually restarting my computer will make it show back up. If you have added any new drives this could efect it too. otherwise it might just be worn out

Verify that your drivers are properly installed. If they are not, please make sure that they are installed. If they are installed properly, then I have a potential solution below.

A common problem with this is that the CR reader is mounting the drive as a particular drive (Example: G drive). If you currently run any cd-rom virtualization software (Example: Daemon Tools), then that drive letter may be in use already, creating a conflict.

Try this:
1) Right click on my computer and select "Manage"
2) Click on Disk Management on the "Tree" to the left.
3) Seach for your drive, you should see if it is mounting correctly. Right click on the drive and choose to Change Drive Letter and Path. Select a new drive letter, and if that was the problem, then if should now be fixed!
