GHz is processor speed. 1024 MHz = 1 GHZ. I reckon after GHz will be THz. Anyway, the processor's speed is, say, 1.4 GHz.
To increase it, you need to get more RAM. But see a pro before doing anything. Say if you have an old Pentium 4, you should consider
a) Buying a new computer
b) OR getting more RAM (Random Access Memory.).
I, personally, would prefer option a).

Typically this is just a measurement related to frequency. For example Giga (G) relates to 1 billion and Hertz (Hz) relates to cycles per second. So if you are turning a light switch on and off 1 billion times a second, the frequency can be stated as 1 GHz.
This value normally applies to processor speed or computer (electronic) clock speed. If you question relates to processor speed you have to change out the microprocessor an din most cases the mainboard in order to make the value higher.
