When I play games, even low end ones it still randomly crashes. I think the card might have burned out but i'm 14 so chances of being able to disect my laptop are thin. It's a Nvidia GeForce FX Go5600 (SONY). When I run DxDiag it says everything is ok. I can't find any driver updates so I really do have a problem. Please help!!!

Get a can of air and spray out your vents
When was the last time you formatted your hard drive ?
Many computer experts recommend a hard drive reformat at least once a year. Reformatting the hard drive cleans out the Windows registry and removes any problem causing files.

The card would only burn-out if you have try to over-clock it, even then you would'nt be able to get into windows if that was the case.

Also makes sure your laptop is well ventulated

Does it crash when you play games only...try installing the latest driver from here

Nvidia Don't have this driver on their site as the cards quite old now....since then there's been the 6 and 7 series with 8 on the way

Are you tryin to run the latest games (Doom 3 FEAR) as this card will struggle

You can upgrade the Graphics Cards on DELL notebooks (as i have in the past)

Maybe give Sony a ring and find out

Well I'm 13 ;) but I do believe that there probably is an update for the driver. Just have to hunt through the nVidia site. http://www.nvidia.com/page/fx_mobile.html hunt around that. Don't forget to download the latest version of DirectX. If you have an ingenuine windows copy you can download it via torrent. Use the program Azureus and the website demonoid.com for torrents. You can also get applications, music, videos, comics, etc. Hopefully you won't use it for copyrighted materials, teehee.

initially, I very a lot doubt that dirt on your portraits card is causing your computer to crash. dirt is a powder of dry pores and skin that easily facilitates warmth to be absorbed and burn up! Secondly, what messages are you getting with the help of "adventure Viewer" to describe any crashing? Thirdly, once you've the money to purchase a Sony Vaio, you should imagine about paying out to get it serviced with the help of a respected broking. remember, laptops are not computers. They cost a lot extra and require extra comfortable love and interest.
