Since it runs on an Intel, what's so great about getting a macbook pro laptop rather than customizing a laptop similar to this but for a cheaper price?

The "cool" factor. Tilt sensor. Quality build. Run OS X and Windows.

The main reason to get a MacBook Pro is because you can run Macintosh OS and Windows OS on the same machine. Apple has released a program that will allow you to dual boot to Windows or MacOS.

The question is do you need MacOS? It is a new operating system (if you have used Windows your whole life) to play around with and get used to. They have some neat toys that some of my friends have showed me, such as the built-in camera, and the endless ways that you can personalize the operating system with widgets and such, and as always the response from Apple gurus is the way they can handle multimedia such as graphics and video editing without a problem.

Being the nerd that I am, I think it would be cool to mess around with an entire new operating system and learning the insides and outs of it. The question for you is whether or not you can live without MacOS because a MacBook Pro running Windows is just another PC laptop.

People that think that macbook pros are a waste of money either a) work for Dell, HP, Gateway, or someone else b) have never owned a mac in their lives or c) both.

I own one and I would have been willing to pay much more than waht I paid for this product and Apple's world class customer service. Besides, you can't beat the Apple aesthetic.

I half agree. MacBook Pro is not that much better than MacBook. It runs a few more applications, and has a slightly faster processor, but I decided on the MacBook when I went to college
