It’s "only" 2-3 years old... with new notebooks being released every few months with new technologies your very outdated...

2-3 years .. it's old. as long as you have the software updated, try for between 3 and 4 hundred. You also may have to include all the accessories with it.
For an idea on the price, put it on ebay. and if you like what's offered, sell it that way (make them pay for the shipping).

I've never sold a laptop. Everytime I want to upgrade and have my laptop spare, I'll look for some childrens charity which might need computers and donate it to them. Apart from giving me the feel good factor of helping people, i can also claim tax relief as a donation, even though this is secondary.

You could go on eBay and see what similar laptops are selling for. If you are selling it to someone locally it will give you some sort of an idea of what it's worth.

Consider donating it to a school (ask them first).
Check EBay prices.
Did you investigate adding a DVD? Maybe external.
