As I said I uninstalled the driver and hence I have no sound..Could you give me the needed link for free downloading of Realtec'97 for Windows 98. Do you think that after downloading it, I'll be able to selve the problem, if not what else I should do? Thanks a lot.

i have and open computer [name brand] with 160 meg of ram 20g hard drive. 300 mhz. pen 2 processor. everything is fine till it hit that sreen.

when i turn on the laptop without power supply (battery dependent only) nothing happens. when the power supply is plugged in (and i have tried it with the battery both connected and disconnected), it turns on but then goes off immediately. is the problem with the external power supply (adapter) or the one inside the laptop itself?

in any case, does anyone know where i can get parts to fix the problem? the laptop is a LG LS50, and im in Sydney, Australia. thanks

Hi! My DVD drive was working properly. But suddenly when I was wathcing a movie on DVD the movie stopped and the tray stucked. I couldn't open the tray after that. Then I use safety-pin in the hole on the tray and opened the tray. I can now open/close the tray manually when it is empty, but if I enter any cd/dvd it stucks again and the drive can't read any disk. I uninstalled the drive and each time my PC detects the drive without any disturbance and shows that it's working properly. But it's not working actually, as I can't use any disks!

Can anyone tell me how can I fix it and what could be the cause of this type of problem? I'll be very glad if anyone can help.

The crooks at Acer want to charge £35 for them (the same as a repair). This is disgusting! For some free advice, I'd warn everyone not to buy Acer. The laptop is shoddy and easily damaged, no wonder they don't want people to have the schematics, they probably make more in repairs than from selling their rubbish goods.

well my brother dropped my computer then my disc drive didnt read any discs i went to see if the driver was turned off it was for the rest of the night then this morning i tried playing a cd with no luck i tried a load of other CDs some DvDs and cd ROMS it wouldnt work the troubleshooter had no luck device manager says its fine i went on my computer and checked the properties still not working i turned the driver off and on nope if this helps im on a win xp laptop do you think its coz its been dropped i dunno please help me thanks
