AntiVirPE Classic is the best all around free software I have found. User friendly settings in scheduling custom scans, daily updates, and actions if virus is detected. Great website support page and message boards. As good or better than any top named brand. http://www.free-av.com

AVG Free is a decent product. But remember you get what you pay for! I would suggest paying for a quality AV product. Fsecure is the best all around but Fortinet makes a good comprehensive PC security suite.

Avast is pretty good and it's free, although it is resource hungry with the RAM.
