Go to HP's website, dowloand the drivers and install them before connecting the printer then connect it up adter you have installed the drivers.Still not coming up, try another cable.Still not working try it on another PC and if that don't work get your money back

1200 series are combined printers and scanners. You need to use HP's software to load the drivers. If you haven't got the disk, you can download it from the HP web site.

Right click My Computer, and left click disk manager. See if Universal Serial Bus has a + by it. If not uninstall and reinstall printer software.

Troubleshoot it and then make sure it can run on your system, Check all the ports and tht they're connected properly

whats it telling you on screen or speaking to you if its getting that far otherwise check everything and if nothing then helpline and if its comparatively new then ask for replacement
