I have built my last 2 PC's and had great luck. I am happy with AMD chips and willmore than likely do so again with my new system. But, Which AMD cpu is the best bang for my buck? I am planning on waiting till Windows Vista comes out, and am an avid world of warcraft player, I watch and use alot of multimedia on my pc.

So AMD FX, X2, or what? Price is an issue id prfer sub $200 chips but could be convinced to spend more.

My Laptops CD Drive sucks. It scratches up disks just for running them in it so I use a External Drive. I screwed up my External and totaled 2 CD-RW Drives as well and they even smell like burning.

So could I extract the Windows CDs contents using nLite, or other software into my external HDD and make the laptop boot-up on the external Hard Drive which isn't screwed?

Working In a laboratory with some 40 Dell optiplex Gx 520 Brand New computers all the computers are slaggish when booting ( some times they stack ), they open a file vey slowly they browse to the internet very slowly in general they are all slaggish. the SPEC of the pc's is as follows 80Gb HD, 1GB ram, Pentium IV 3.0 GHZ.....so is there a reamedy, or a technique that I have to use to cope up with this problem ?

I am newbie in gaming and I have a P4 2.66 with PCI-E motherboard and 512mb RAM. I do only have a onboard graphics card which cannot run the games in its glory. I want to play the semi-latest and latest games in at least 45 fps in 800*600 or 1024*768 with a bit AA or without AA. Which card will do good for me. I was planning to get a XFX GeForce 6600 GT with 256mb VRAM. Will it do good. At least I want play Quake 4 and NFS:Carbon well. Please help. If my choice is not good then what you do suggest?

I bought a Memorex CD/DVD Rom that has to be installed. My sister installed it. We've been to a website from Memorex that said what to do if you're having trouble getting your computer to recognize it. We've gone to the Control Panel, My Computer, nada. Nothing seems to be working. Does my computer being a Dell have anything to do with my troubles? Do I need to replace it? Or should I have gotten a professional to install it? Any suggestions? (Try to take it easy with your computer terms; I'm not that computer savvy...)

i just got signed up with vonage on Tuesday and every thing went fine. but i needed to forward some ports it worked fine for a couple of days. but now i am losing almost 3megs in download speed. but i get it back if i unplug my router and just run my modem. i'm at a loss here i have reset the router and the same thing it ran fine and after a few hours my net got really slow agian. if it were my ports i fowared then it would be slow from the getgo what could this be

What should I look for considering that I will hook into my home wifi (other computer in house is Mac) and into my office network (all PCs) My office plans to update to the new windows when it comes out in January or so. I done everything I could possibly do. My speakers just stop working? I have rebooted my computer 3 times thinking it might be the software or the drive but I dont think it is because I have install all the drives and everything. My media player wks. I see it playing but no sound. I thinks is my speakers. I think that they are fried. I have tried connecting speakers to my laptop but still nothing. Please help I have a gateway laptop.
