Random access memory (RAM) is a volatile semiconductor memory that is
widely used in computers. This type of memory is called random access
because any memory location can be accessed directly if the row and
column of the location is known. The memory is arranged like a table
and a specific location of memory can be specified by a row and column
number. Accessing RAM is faster than accessing magnetic storage devices
like Hard Disk Drives.
RAM holds the data for temporary purposes. As long as the system is on,
the data remains there; but after the power is gone, the data is also
gone. It can be 64,128,256,512,1024 Mb and so on.
If you have more RAM, then your system will be faster. Running heavy
applications like Creating Game, managing a server, or running a
powerful software require greater sizes of RAM.
There are two types of RAM. 1- S-RAM, 2- DRAM or DDR RAM. These days,
the second type (DRAM) is preferred over the first (S-RAM).

RAM-Random Access Memory
Go for 1G ( 1000MB ). In the market the price of 256MB and 512MB are getting higher and higher. Some said it's lack of raw material but I think it's because the manufacturer want to get rid of the 256MB and 512MB stock and start manufacture only 1G next year ( if it manufacture 512MB, it's only in a small amount ).
Low stock + High demand = GOOD PRICE

Ram works with your hard drive and cache to run your programs.
Hard drive - is your filing cabinet
RAM - is your dining room table - the more RAM - the bigger
....the table - more files you can pull out and work on at once
cache - how fast you can move the files from the Hard Drive to the RAM and back
512 would be desirable - the more the merrier
I have 2 gig in my PC for games

RAM is a volatile memory that is used for loading, displaying pages, pictures, refreshing etc.. So basically more RAMs enhance your computer loading speed. If you wanna play games on your laptop, i suggest no less then 512 RAM for new games. If it is strictly for business, i guess 256 is good enough... but if the cost difference is not too big, 512 is definitely better...i got 1GB RAM on my gaming laptop, and i can play very smoothly brand new games.

likely it extremely is do on your snap shots card. video enjoying cards will use gadget reminiscence interior the matching volume of that on the cardboard. you likely have a snap shots card/outfitted in gpu that has 256 mb or reminiscence so it extremely is going to take in that comparable volume of ram. as such the OS won't see that ram as accessible. so 2 gb of ram would be seen as approx a million.7 once you positioned aside the 256 for the gpu.

You want to get the 512MB.
If you're computer was an office, the RAM is the size your desktop - it's the amount of stuff that you're able to deal with right now. As opposed to your Hard drive which would be the size of your filing cabinet.

Ram is the area where programs and files are put when running them. When you click on a program, the processor finds the program on your hard disk and loads it into ram. This is where the actual program is run. More ram is better!
