Funny. It happen to me a couple of days ago and I have a gateway laptop. It's working now. First try system restore and see if that works. If that doesn't work, then go to system recovery. You might have to reinstall speakers. The speakers on my gateway laptop is called sigma tel audio. It might be the same for you. I had to reinstall my again and it's working fine. Good luck.

I received your email but some reason, I can't reply back to you. Something wrong with your email address? Anyway, sorry that it's not working. The only thing I can suggest is to call gateway hotline or bring it back to the store where you bought it and see if they can fix it. Good luck.

you probably need to install the drivers again. just put in the operating system cd. and when the installation window comes up click on install additional components. and choose windows media player to install. it doesn't really reinstall it, but the sound should come back. otherwise, go to your computer manufacturer's website for the drivers for your specific computer and os.

Have you checked you control panel and properties on your sound see if that is the problem hope it is all that needs to be done. Also see if the wizard can do a sound check on your computer far as trouble shoot the sound OK.

Go to Control Panel, Sound and Audio and make sure ALL Mutes are off. Turn all volumes up at least halfway. That should do it.
