I am partial to Dell my self. HP & Compaq are actually one in the same. HP bought Compaq a couple of years ago. From personal experience Dell has excellent customer service and a 24 hour a day 7 days a week toll free number to call for help.

Since Dell has bought AlienWare, Dell is the best and only way to go... Although, I didn't have the money at the time and I bought an Averatec laptop and its great. 17 inch wide screen lightest on the market. 1gb of ram, 80 gig hdd, its great.
