Working In a laboratory with some 40 Dell optiplex Gx 520 Brand New computers all the computers are slaggish when booting ( some times they stack ), they open a file vey slowly they browse to the internet very slowly in general they are all slaggish. the SPEC of the pc's is as follows 80Gb HD, 1GB ram, Pentium IV 3.0 GHZ.....so is there a reamedy, or a technique that I have to use to cope up with this problem ?

how often do you defrag the computers (once a week)

and once a month - check disk - to repair any defective sectors

There could be a number of things wrong. First things first, run a virus and spy-ware scan. Spy-ware really tends to slow down your system. Next DEFRAGMENT your system. This is crucial!! I would also recommend getting a program that will clean your Registry of any broken or invalid items as well as defrag it too. That Makes a HUGE difference. Also, uninstall any programs you don't really need, the more free space you have the smoother things will be on your hard drive. I would also run a thorough disk cleanup utility. Get rid of any Web history or browser cache too. If that doesn't work, Go to walmart and buy "Fix-It Utilities 7" for $40 and let that puppy go to town. Did WONDERS for me!
