Hey
I just decided single core instead of dual core. But i am on a somewhat tight budget and i was just thinking if 512kb L2 cache would do the job for me? This will be used as a sometimes gaming computer, and file server.

I have a Gateway MX7504. It suddenly stopped working one day. Just wouldn't power up, wouldn't charge, nothing. I figured that it was a bad connection somewhere, but didn't have time to look into it. I got a new computer, and I want to sell this laptop (it's a sweet machine when it runs!). I have disassembled it almost entirely, only lacking the four screws underneath the monitor. I have already unlatched the monitor, so I can access the screws, but I can't unscrew them! I twist and twist and nothing happens. I'm afraid to strip them. Well..kind of afraid. This laptop is junk anyway if I can't get these screws out.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I just got a new (used) laptop from ebay. it's a dell latitude or whatever and it's from 2001. Anyway, it doesn't have any word programs on there (except for wordpad - which isn't too great)
and I'd like to get word perfect or open office on there. The thing is, I'm trying to copy it from the PC to my USB data travler thing to my laptop and I can't do it! Open office is free, but I'm having trouble getting the laptop to take it. HELP!
oh, it has wireless, but when I went to the connections part there was a red X over it. Is that because I'm not in a wireless area?
then, I hooked it up to the the PC's DSL cord and it wouldn't go on. It said that I needed to make a new connection and I tried to, but I couldn't make that work, either.
Thanks for the help, it's really appreciated. I mean, I'm a English major (so the laptop is a great thing) but I'm not as technologically advanced as some.
THANKS AGAIN!
ps - the USB works just fine otherwise so that's not the problem

I have a macbook pro with A 2GHZ CORE DUO, 2GB of ram, 256MB ATI X1600. Basically its crazy fast but I hear that the core 2 duo is a bit faster and lot cooler temperature wise. The temp makes a difference cause you want to be able to use it on your lap etc. I got a sweet deal on the one I have and so its loaded with ram and the top graphics card. If I buy the new core 2 duo macbook pro for 2000 it will have a slightly faster chip (2.16) but al gig less ram and only half the memory on the graphics card. Do you think I should just keep the one I have or should I get the new one?

My Dell inspiron 1150 laptop's hinges are both cracked. One side is really bad, it cracked right off. I the other side is cracked and I'm afraid that the stress of doing all the work is going to break that one off too. Is it possible to fix this myself? Or if I bring it to a repair shop is it expensive. I hope I can use my laptop long enough to read your answers. Thanks!! Jesse
