In my opinion, Dell is better, both in style and performance

HP may be heavier, thicker, even with some newer models

---speaking from my experience; I own a Dell laptop, and have been selling a lot of pre-owned laptops, and by far, I still prefer Dell over HP

I think what you should really be considering is the warranty. It is impossible to predict when something will break (Dell, HP or otherwise). I have a Dell with a 4 year full (accident protection) warranty.

When I managed to spill coffee on it, a Dell rep was at my house the next day. Can't beat that.

As for Apple, I won't even dive into that conversation.

Both are good name brands, however compaq computers (which is the same manufacturer as hp) has a problem with their hard drives failing-- therefore, you are better off with a dell. Dell computers are built to withstand extreme conditions, and will probably be your better choice.

Both would be about the same except dell is a more recognized name brand.
