I have a Gateway MX7504. It suddenly stopped working one day. Just wouldn't power up, wouldn't charge, nothing. I figured that it was a bad connection somewhere, but didn't have time to look into it. I got a new computer, and I want to sell this laptop (it's a sweet machine when it runs!). I have disassembled it almost entirely, only lacking the four screws underneath the monitor. I have already unlatched the monitor, so I can access the screws, but I can't unscrew them! I twist and twist and nothing happens. I'm afraid to strip them. Well..kind of afraid. This laptop is junk anyway if I can't get these screws out.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hate to say it, but most likely the cause of your problem was just a bad battery or AC adapter. Mine did the same thing...replaced the battery and it worked like a charm.

Those screws may not be made to come out. Once in, they probably won't come back out. Most likely they hold the actual screen together with the plastic bezel and aren't made to be disassembled.

attempt following approach to do away with Black show situation. a million) TAKE OUT YOUR laptop BATTERY 2) get rid of YOUR AC ADAPTOR twine, it extremely is the wall potential, get rid of it. 3) NOW carry DOWN the potential BUTTON FOR 30 SECONDS which will drain any static electricity that has geared up up on your laptop equipment board and many situations fixes the difficulty of a black show. After the 30 seconds re-connect your laptop to the wall potential and hit the potential button often and notice if the laptop comes decrease back up.
