Hey
I just decided single core instead of dual core. But i am on a somewhat tight budget and i was just thinking if 512kb L2 cache would do the job for me? This will be used as a sometimes gaming computer, and file server.

Telling us the cache without which processor you are talking about or which processors you are comparing does not really give us a good picture of what you wanna know. Expand the question a little and maybe we can be of more help.

EDIT: Okay, AMD makes it very simple for you here. Just look at the number in the name, in this case 3700+. This is its Intel equivalent, meaning it is equivalent to an Intel of that speed (3.7Ghz). This number takes both speed and cache into account, hence just pay attention to that number, the higher the better. That is why a 2.2Ghz with only 512 says 3500+ while the 2.2Ghz with 1MB of cache says 3700+. So yes, a 3700+ would be enough, although nothing spectacular.

go for the 1MB of cache. It's better to spend the extra $10-20 now than suffer later.
