insert cd -rw into your cd-rw burner. run your burning software...there should be an option to delete/reformat files on the cd.

it depends on the software that you use. If you are using Nero, then there is an erase disc utility in the Nero (Ahead Software) directory in the start menu. Truthfully though, just get one of those USB flash drives instead if you were planning on using cds to transfer data, and if you're using the cd-rw's for music, then burn a new one on a plain CD-R and save yourself the headache (they cost less than 8 cents apiece now)!

If you want to erase a CD-R because you want to get rid of all of the information on it so that it cannot be read - the only way I know of is to take a hammer to it and break it into a millon pieces. Once the data is written to it, it is permanent. Even if you were able to find a program to "erase" the disk all that it would probably do is mark the index file, the data itself would still be there.

Make sure your CD is in your write drive, double click on "My Computer" then click on the drive with the CD in it. On the top left corner of the window you will see "Erase contents of CD" or something similar to this, click on that and it will erase the contents.
