But i am looking to replace it with a computer thats more reliable (the computer itself has a lot of problems).

I need someone to answer this that has delt with both computers.

In your oppinon, which is better?

I play a lot of games (mostly high tech ones) i do a lot of downloading, school work.

Well if you wanna get absolutely technical, dual core is a generic name, it means any processor that has two cores. There is no such thing as a duo core. As for what you said about 32 bit and 64 bit, that is not true. Now if you are comparing Pentium D to Core 2 Duo, yes the Core 2 Duo is better because it has newer and better architecture, and it is 64 bit compatible, but it is a dual core processor just as the Pentium D is a dual core processor. There is no such thing as a duo core.

EDIT: Why did you ask this question when you seem to think you know more about the question then anyone on here. You said last you checked Core 2 Duo was 2 32 bits and dual core is 2 64 bits, let me ask you, who exactly makes dual core. Is there a processor called Intel Dual Core or AMD Dual Core I am unaware of. As I said, dual core is a generic name that applies to all processors that have two physical processing cores, the Core 2 Duo being one of them, other are the Pentium D or the Athlon 64 X2. As for 64 bits, the Core 2 Duo will run either in 32 bit mode or 64 bit mode, as will the Athlon 64 X2. The Pentium D will only run in 32 bit mode.
