before the os is loaded the interface which appears on the screen to create the drives, is it the dos interface? where is it stored.

Im getting 2 ssa controller errors under "other devices" and under "IEEE 1349 bus host controllers" I get an error on "via OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller"
Both hard drives are running fine. I cant figure what these things are

My laptop was sick and now I want to partition a new install of xp pro. What is the best way to partition the hard drive. Should it be 50/50 or 20/80 compacity of hard drive. I only have a 60gig.

i'm trying to add 1 more gb of RAM to make 3gbs of RAM in to my computer
all 4 sticks of ram (2x 1gb and 2x 512mb) work
they are exactly the same
in everyway, including company, speed, type, and version
my motherboard supports 4gbs
and so does Windows XP Pro
but when i stick in the sticks
my computer won't boot
what is going on?

When I enable system properties to show me only modes that this monitor can display, it shows upto 1024 X 768 at 70 Hz. But it only supports upto 1024X768 at 60 HZ. When I set resolution to 1024 X 768 at 70 Hz, the monitor gets out of frequency.Why this happens.

Have a Western Digital WD800 SATA HDD Master (w/XP on it), and a Seagate 120 GB HDD as slave(for storage). Has been working fine, then a few days ago, I went to turn the machine on and got a checksum error. Got rid of the Checksum error, now getting ERROR LOADING OS. Checked the BIOS, and the WD HDD doesn't show up. Used XP CD to get DOS prompt, and the WD HDD doesn't show there either. No installations or significant changes have been made to the system in the past week. At first, I was thinking the HDD went bad, but not sure, since the problem came about very suddenly. I was looking for answers or suggestions, and came across a posting of a somewhat similar situation, and it indicated that a bad CMOS battery could be the culprit. Is this worth looking into? How much do CMOS batteries cost?

I'm wondering if it matters whether or not it is upright in the box, or lying on it's side. It's going to be surrounded by a thick layer of soft material all around so it won't be able to really move at all.

HELP ME WITH MY COMPUTER? Plz???
I have a slight problem! I got one of those USB/ Flash Drives today from Sony I think it holds around 256 MB or something like that. But when I plug it into my Laptop (Windows XP Home Edition) and I try to save something from Microsoft on it it won't and nothing pops up like it says on the instructions! Also theres a little icon @ the bottom next to the time that says VIRTUAL EXPANDER when I roll over it but it doesnt to anything! So can somebody plz help me? How do I install my laptop to accept the Flash Drive??? I accidentally threw away the instructions so a little help plz???? Also when I put in the Flash Drive no icon pops up!!! HELP ME

i bought toshiba laptop few days back ...as i play lot of movies on it ..for some reason when i play movie on it...sometimes i feel break in pictures or sound. i tried with diff movies but its still same..is anything i can do at my home or do i need to take it back to dealer. does lens cleaning would help in anyway... plz suggest
