if I have 2 sticks of ram with different speed ratings will my faster ram be limited to the slower speed?

They will run at the lower speed and may not even work. It is a good idea to use the same manufacture as well. Using two differ ant types may slow your system way down. I have great luck with Kingston Value Ram. go to the site below and find the ram. Most have links to the companies web site and you can check the compatibility with your system.

Yes, that's why you need ram that's rated the same speed.

the RAM ratings will always be at the same speed
so since the slower one can't go any faster to reach teh fast one
the fast one is forced to slow down to match the slow one

yes. the ram will only perform at the speed of the slowest stick.

You should be able to put both in there and they will add up to the speed you will have with them added together.
