I just saw an ad in a catalog for exactly that. It's a phono. that you can hook up right to your puter through usb and it can also be connected to a stereo as well...it was under $130.00 ... I'm not sure of the name of the catalog but, it was something like supergeek.com....try and google it.....I will too as I have many 12inch singles that I'd like to transfer...good luck... ;)...btw...I still use vinyl.....I mix my records and burn them on my stereo CD burner, then put them on my puter via I tunes then I can add to my Ipod.....or just keep it in the puter to listen to... ;)

Didn't know they made USB phonographs...you still need to have sound capture software on your computer. Normally, i would get a regular record player (vinyl), connect the output to the input on the computers sound card, use the sound recording software that came with the sound card, and save the songs that way onto the hard drive, then burn the songs to a cd with the cd burner and software.

If you can hear the music played over the phonograph through your computer, http://audacity.sourceforge.net , can record what you hear and convert it to electronic audio files that then can be burned to CDs.
