The interface you see is not the ms-dos, but the normal motherboard boot-up process...
The dos looks the same, that black text screen, but is not it...
About whats the difference, windows is a graphic-based OS, and msdos a text based on...
Since windows 2000, they are no longer related.
until windows 98 se and windows me, they were conected, the machine started with msdos and then ran windows, but now no longer (What is a pitty :D)
The MSDOS is stored in your HD, its base is the file c:\io.sys, but in your case is just the motherboad subsystem, wich is located at the internal e-prom memory of your computer...

Both MS Windows and MS DOS are operating systems. The major difference is that DOS is a comand-line interface while Windows is a Graphical interface.

Unless I am very mistaken, Windows 3.x, 95, 98 and 98 SE run on DOS. However, Windows NT, 2000 and XP do not and only have DOS-support. This is the reason why some DOS programs cannot run on XP.

As almost everone has said, what appears when you boot is the BIOS, just making sure everything is OK before loading the Windows OS.

If you have DOS and have a PC that no one has been fiddling around with, it will be stored on the C drive. If you want to run dos from Windows, click start, then run. Type in 'cmd' and press enter.

Hope that was helpful

Dos was the interface before Windows came out. Windows has parts of dos in it, but is a graphical interface. The commands/words you see before Windows loads are from the Bios, and not dos. It does not create the drives.

MS DOS (MicroSoft Disk Operating System) is a text environment

Windows is an object (graphic) environment

Windows runs under MS DOS, the pc runs DOS first, then it loads Windows.

Windows is a cheap copy of McIntosh (Apple) OS (operating System).

MS DOS is stored on the C: disk 99.5 out of 100 times.

ms dos is the first operating system produced by microsoft. and the thing you see while the pc is booting up is simply the bios which makes sure everything is ok before it lets the operating system take over.

I gave you a celebrity for an rather thoughtful question! i trust maximum individuals agree that Mrs. is a married woman who has taken her husband's very last call as her personal. And, Ms. is an human being woman - not giving freely her marital (or non-marital) status. What you requested is, although, is an rather interesting, idea frightening concern. My best wager (and that is purely of venture) might want to be Ms. only in view that the you're literally not honoring him by wearing his call. you're doing it because it is your call. maximum women people save their maiden (or formerly married) call because of a employer that they have got familiar previous to the marriage and replacing it may have a tendency to lose 'purchasers'. Why did you not do it? OH another ingredient - i am going to communicate contained in the first human being - i replaced into married - replaced into Mrs. X. I divorced and saved his very last call (because of my employer and my youngster's very last call being X) yet replaced it to Ms. X. Now, if I were to remarry i might want to save my employer call for monetary motives. i might want to desire my new husband might want to understand and recognize that that is not because i'm wearing a torch for the first husband! and that i might want to stay Ms. EDIT: in case you replaced your status to Mrs. it would want to look as idea you married a guy with an similar very last call, does not it?
