Computer: Compaq 5360

A buddy gave me a hard drive with a bunch of MP3's on it and I want to set it up on my computer. I've attached the cable (serial cable...is that the lingo?) that connects to my main hard drive and have attached power as well....this all according to the instructions in my Compaq manual. As well...I have the little bridge on the pins on back set to "slave". Now...I can't see the drive...doesn't show up when I'm in windows Explorer(?). Is there a step/steps that I'm missing here?

Thanks,

G

Help! I have a Compaq 5360 I baught in 1999. Don't use it for much except recording guitar tracks and internet. I've done a full system recover on it...reloaded everything. Still doesn't seam to be working very well, and the hard drive is NOISY...making that belabored "creaking" sound. Is my hard drive going bad?

i seem to be having problems with my agp port,i currently use a 128mb pci-bus radeon 9250 card which is great for what i do and can cope with most games, even doom3 and need for spped
however i have tried 2 agp cards in my agp slot, which is according to si-soft sandra(benchmarking tool) a x4 agp port,it is a sis730s mobo and has a old style agp slot without a white clip
on trying the 1st card a ge-force 4 mmx(128mb) ,i manage to install the drivers ,but all images are cloudy and have a bitty texture to the images, and the second card a old 3dfx voodoo 3 will install ok and windows xp finds the drivers but then the screen will go grey and after 10 seconds it re-boots
however my pci-bus radeon 9250 is working brilliant and has great dvd playback and good frame rates
in bios i set these settings for a agp card
primary video=pci(agp) irq for pci= yes
is ther any other settings i am missing and what is the agp problem?
thanks

I have a Sony Vaio PCV-RX540 which I am hoping to use for some voice recording. But my fans make horrible noises, so I would like to replace them with quieter ones. Unfortunately, I am unsure which fans will fit in, and work with my system.

I have an intel mother board, and I know certain fans are compatible with these and others with AMD motherboards. But specifically, when I look at specs for fans, I don't know which ones (which specs) are important as far as size and compatibility are concerned.

I also don't know the specs of my own fans, or how to determine these (actually, I did figure out which case fan I had and read those specs, but they were little help because I was unsure which ones pertained to size and compatibility).

The owner's manual directs me to a support website for upgrading and repairing my particular PC, which I would be grateful to use, but I have yet to find any evidence that this site actually exists.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Most all the features of my HP Officejet 7310 All-in-one printer do not work . The only for sure is the copier -but not when I copy from my files .Whenever I try scanning , I get scanner failure .When it was installed the old soft wear was not removed . I took my tower in for service mos ago & had files reinstalled and was told to reinstall the printer disk but nothing has changed.

I have recently discovered the internet and as a result windows has slowed down so that I can no longer compose music with my computer. I decided to buy a new hard drive and run a seperate operating system on it. My only problem is moving smoothly from one hard drive to the next. I have to turn off the computer, unplug the master hard drive, change hard drive in the bios and reboot. It worked fine at first but is now having trouble booting when I switch. I feel this is somthing to do with the computer becoming confused with the whole master slave thing.

Can anyone help me?

I was able to use DVD's in my DVD Drive (Region 2 - UK PAL), but now, every time I insert a DVD, my PC will freeze on me. If I restart with the DVD inserted, the PC wont continue loading windows xp.

Is there a solution to this. Is my DVD drive dead. (Not really, it is fine with data DVDs). Do I need codecs. (I have InterVideo WinDVD 2000 + WinDVD 7). Please help.

i have just seen a article on "the guru of 3d" that a 3dfx voodoo 3 agp card can still play games like half life 2 and doom 3,i find this hard to belive, but if it is true ,i have a 3dfx voodoo 3 agp card and i am tempted to give it a go
do you think that this card could play these games and which of these would you use
my card 128mb radeon 9250(pci-bus) using this at the moment or
16mb 3dfx voodoo3 (agp) a lot less memory but a better interface
any views would be helpful
