I was able to use DVD's in my DVD Drive (Region 2 - UK PAL), but now, every time I insert a DVD, my PC will freeze on me. If I restart with the DVD inserted, the PC wont continue loading windows xp.
Is there a solution to this. Is my DVD drive dead. (Not really, it is fine with data DVDs). Do I need codecs. (I have InterVideo WinDVD 2000 + WinDVD 7). Please help.

Sounds like your hard drive is too full for the DVD to load...have you tried pulling computer maintenance...scan disk, defrag, check the amount of volume left on your drive when you defrag ...in xp it will tell you in the top section.
Also...if your drive is too full and you add/delete programs to increase space..then use a registry cleanser or it will crash because it has too much old trash registry entries to chew through before getting to your DVD. Another thought is do a virus and adware scan. If you need virus and adware utility software check www.zdnet.com/downloads for some good freeware and shareware. Oh yeah and finally or maybe first depending on your situation...you may not have enough memory in your computer...but since you said it worked before this is probably not the case.

Hardware conflict, upgrade the firmware of your DVD drive, also, stop playing with Regions, just have your drive to be region free or have a program to make region free drives on the fly (AnyDVD).
Move out of that naughty, naughty country, the UK and leave that stupid PAL system behind, the british want to do everything backwards, they even drive in the wrong side.

Try updating drivers for the device. Also if you change the region too many times, it will stick on your last selection. You will not be able to change it again after this. May be the problem although I would try downloading a driver for it.

remove both WinDVD2000 and WinDVD 7, since they both do the same. Reinstall either.
Get codecs from www.free-codecs.com, left hand bar WindowsXP codec pack.

What is your operating system ? is it Windows P Media Center ? if it is , it is usual it has some bugs , and the region changing is very good too but be careful you can change your region only for 3 times.
