I recently upgraded to a DDR2 motherboard but I was wondering will I be able to use my 400 mhz DDR RAM in the meantime while I save my money for DDR2 800mhz?

no, DDR and DDR2 are not compatible. maybe you have a mobo with both socket types, but these are pretty rare (there exist some ECS mobos with both types).
