i have just seen a article on "the guru of 3d" that a 3dfx voodoo 3 agp card can still play games like half life 2 and doom 3,i find this hard to belive, but if it is true ,i have a 3dfx voodoo 3 agp card and i am tempted to give it a go
do you think that this card could play these games and which of these would you use
my card 128mb radeon 9250(pci-bus) using this at the moment or
16mb 3dfx voodoo3 (agp) a lot less memory but a better interface
any views would be helpful

The 3dfx voodoo3 agp card can play IF you can find drivers for it. That card was the best ever made - period.

I seriously doubt there are many games still playable with Voodoo3 class graphics. Most of the new games (3D especially) require DirectX9 compliant video adapters and Voodoo3 is not good.
Even if you manage to run the game with the Voodoo3,the FPS will be very limited, having 5-15FPS will be a nightmare to play at a resolution like 640x480 or ,if you're extremely lucky, 800x600,but I don't think the RAM of the card will be enough for 800x600 in 3D games newer than 2001.

This is one of those questions that is screaming out for a Benchmark test.

The answer lies in what the rest of your system is! If it's got plenty of CPU MHZ and RAM then I'd go with Software acceleration on the 128mb.

If not, use the agp.
