Have verizon dsl, When first connected everything was fine. After about 2 hrs. it stopped working. I called tech. he said to change to usb cable. When I did I everything worked. He told me I would have to have new drivers installed? I dont know what he is talking about. Before I take it to a shop I want to know if I can do it myself.

i'm in the market for a new laptop. can someone tell me (in small words) what the differences are between an AMD processor and an Intel? i would be using my pc for school, browsing the net, email, burning cds & dvds - not for gaming though. which would be the best processor for me? also, i read recently that the P4's and athlon processors are being phased out. is that true? thanks...

the old cpu was a intel celeron d with 2.50 GHZ the new one's gonna be an AMD athlon with 2.00 ghz 3200+.. can i connect the new motherboard and the new processor to the old harddrive and still expect it to work fine as the primary drive and be able to access all the files in the harddrive?? i'm also using a new power supply thats a 24 pin compared to the old motherboard which used a 20 pin. furthermore my harddrive uses a windows XP and its from a 2003 compaq S6010V and i don't have the cd i originally used to install the windows XP.. now that u know the situation any answers and suggestions??

I am thinking about getting a laptop, the one that I am looking at comes with a built in Wireless LAN... What is this?
I know that it is used to get internet, but do I have to pay monthly for it? Do I need a seperate internet provider as well? I am just confused as to how this works, Im sure Ill find out when I actually go to the store to buy it... but I wanted to find out a little information beforehand. Thanks!!

I just recently finished building my newest computer, and it wasn't till i was downloading the drivers that I realized that my optical drive (dvddl, lightscribe, all that good stuff) can run on either IDE or SATA.... I installed it using the IDE, but it's not too much trouble to switch it to SATA. My question is, how big of a difference will it make on an optical drive by switching. The drive is fast enough, and will rip a 192kbps wmapro in ~10seconds, so it's not like it's crawling, but would there me any advantage? (I'd prefer not to switch, to avoid having a CMOS nightmare)

i have been having problems getting a agp card to work,i am fairly good with computers and understand all device management, and drivers, ect
i have quite a old motherboard(sis730),which i used to build a p.c from different parts,,,,sis730 mobo(socket A) , 120 gb hdd , amd athlon 1.8ghz processor , ati radeon 9250 pci-bus 128mb card 512 sd ram
i have managed to locate all the drivers i need network driver, sound driver, ide driver. and also the agp driver
now my question is do you need a agp driver to use a agp card, and if so how do you install your card with this driver
do you install the driver first and then the card,or vice versa
the agp driver i have found has no name on it,it just says "sis agp driver whql"
any ideas

Two days ago my sister called to let me know the dell computer I had given them is not working. My niece was alone with them computer for a few minutes and now when it is powered on the monitor stays blank(though it is getting power) and the tower makes a clicking noise. The tower is getting power because the power light is on but it blinks, the computer is a desktop and about 3 years old. It uses windows 98. We have already checked the cords to make sure they are all plugged in correctly and can not figure out what is wrong with it cause the only thing my niece can reach on the computer is the keyboard. Does anyone know why it is doing this? I'd like to see if it's something we can fix ourselves before we bring it to a repair shop.
