I think what you may be looking for is a KVM switch or a software equivelent. This will allow you to use one monitor/mouse/keyboard to control both PC's. I was on a website for a really good cross platform one last night in fact, but its name slips my mind =( - google the phrase "software kvm switch" should point you in the right direction. A Hardware solution is only about 25 dollars though.

This effectively puts the control of both PCs on one desktop, allowing you to switch back and forth between them as needed.

the below link can give you more detailed info on what they are

EDIT: um, ok I just read your added clarification - I can't help you there, sorry

you want to hook up 2 CPU's to use with just 1 monitor, keyboard and mouse combination? Or do you want to run both computers at the same time and see them as one computer?

Or are you actually looking to run both computers and be able to access the internet from either one?

Not entirely sure what you are trying to combine here!
