Most software today will not be 98 compatible. You might want to get an upgrade to Windows XP in addition to some hardware upgrades. You know what, Dell's are really cheap - it just might be best off getting a new one.

because most software these days are not built for windows 98. Usually it is built or designed for windows xp. Before you buy your software, check the label on the side of the box or speak to your friendly IT guy. Chances are your not going to find software built for windows 98.

Many new software simply wont work with Win 98.
Any way from a security perspective Win 98 is v.v.v. unsecured while connecting to the network or Internet. MS has stopped supporting it altogether.
