I got a new mobo, and on the box it specifically mentions "Athlon64" and "Athlon 64 fx" -- it does not mention "Athlon 64 x2".

I have an Athlon 64 x2 3800+ socket 939 processor.

I just want to make sure it will work in my
Socket 939 ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo.

It has been 2 years since I got my computer and I want to try to modify its looks. But I have to have a list of the hardware in it. Processor, harddisk, ram etc. Their product names, numbers and years etc. A program or a section of Windows itself?

i have an ide primary drive for programs, and a secondary drive for all my data. problem - when i burn a dvd from the second drive it takes about 45 mins. if i take the data to be burned, copy it over to the primary drive, the burn takes about 15mins. wtf?

question - why does it take so long to burn/move/copy data to/from the secondary drive?

settings seem right, master/slave....etc. funny thing, i have an external usb2.0 drive, same make and model as the secondary internal drive, and even the external is faster than the secondary. i don't understand. any help would be much appreciated.

thanks.

I am seriously considering getting the 1405 but I've read several reviews that say the screen is a pain. It does seem very mirror-like and reflective. Some say it's tough to view if well lit environments w/the TrueLife display. I've even seen people write that the screen makes it almost un-useable. I'd like to use it as a portable computer for grad school and use it in a variety of places. Do you think the screen would be a problem?

Okay, I'd love to buy a new Dell laptop, maybe even Mac powerbook, but money is an issue right now. I can't upgrade to the newest Safari Browser with my current OSX 10.2.8, whatever that is. Panther or Jaguar, or whatever. Without Safari 2.0, I can't even answer a question here (I can ask one, like right now, figure THAT out). The stats: this is a 2001 iMac with some professionally done upgrades a year ago. Its 500 MHz, PowerPC G3. Whoopie! ---My needs: no gaming or movies or anything fancy--just basic emailing, ebaying, browsing. Though I might like to install Photoshop in the future...I know that takes a big chunk of memory. SORRY for the lengthy question, but I'm an idiot about computers and need help. The shops here just confuse me and try to sell me stuff. Help me please!!!! Thank you!

I am a computer idiot I guess. On a CD, if it says CD-RW, is that just saying that it is a Rewritable Disk? Is there such a thing as a CD+RW disk? If so, is there a difference? Also, if anyone knows about a DVD Multi player;compact disk ReWritable Ultra speed + Disk Drive, could you tell me if it is possible to burn disks on it? I don't think it is but our tech guy says it should. Is he right?

The college that I am going to has wireless internet capability. My question is will I need my own internet provider or will the wireless network at the college have that for me? I hope my question is clear enough to understand. Thanks in advance. I really didn't know how to word this question.

My wife's laptop computer is very slow. We've tried Spyware Doctor to get rid of spyware and we have McAfee Virus protection and AOL firewall protection. It is just so slow and locks up continually when she's on the internet. Her computer has been used by temps and family so I'm afraid there's a good chance there is an infection.

I have a Sony Vaio that is of PCG-Z1 model range. It took a short drop of about half a meter. It worked fine for a few days but then problems began. When the power button is pressed, LEDs light up and the hard disk spins, before slowng down and stopping, but the POST does not happen and the laptop does not boot. The laptop does boot up however when tilted at a certain angle and works normally should the laptop be maintained at this odd angle. If it starts up in the tilted position and Windows starts, should the laptop be moved...the whole screen freezes and nothing else will happen. I originally thought it was just a loose connection, but someone has said that it is perhaps a motherboard problem. Does anyone know exactly what the problem might be?

Is it cheaper to print flyers myself than to have it done at a service provider (like Kinkos)? I realize different printers have different costs, but where is the balance between doing myself and having a professional print something for me. I print maybe 200 flyers a month, 3 or 4 times a year. Should I just do it with my ink jet printer or is it better to send them out?

i have just been looking in hardware manger and noticed that the sis 730 display (the onboard graphics) had been disabled as i am using a pci radeon 9250
this made me think,i have been unable to install a agp(gforce 4 mmx)card on the agp slot,i tried everything, bios settings, updating drivers but to no avail
could disabling the sis onboard graphics have any bearing on the failure of the agp card
if i uninstalled the drivers for the onboard graphics, which have been there since i got the p.c(but disabled) ,then tried to install the agp card after that ,would this make a difference
any ideas?
