No. As long as your computer has a wireless network card installed and you know the password to use the wireless internet that your college provides for you, you don't need a internet service provider.

If your college provides wireless internet and you have a laptop and it has wireless tech (ex. Intel Centrino) built-in then you can access it , if not you need an internet bridge its one of those modem like thing with an antenna (like a popsicle stick). Or if you are going to use a desk top you need a bridge too, that is if the wireless network reaches your PC. You dont need your own provider.

Most Schools, Universities, and Trade Schools provide this for you in the classroom setting, i.e. When I undertook my A+ Training for Software, Hardware, OS, Networking, Security, etc. The School provided it for me, then at the dorm for additional studies at night on my own time, that was homework related they provided the hookup, router and all. I would check with the College you plan on attending and ask them if it is installed in the dorms, classrooms, the only thing you would need ( Maybe ) is the PC..... Some Depends on your courses and how they relate to the need for Internet, and all Campuses should have a Hall where it is available no matter the need... Good Luck in Your Studies...

you can use the colleges internet connection and not its not true that you need to buy a wireless network card for your laptop in order to access wireless internet. the thing is that 99% of laptops now have built in wireless capabilities and so you dont need to buy anything
