Actually they are not the same- a laptop suggests you can have it on your lap but some are actually not suitable for the lap because of the heat they generate so they have to be placed on a table or special lap stand. Therefore they wont call it a laptop for legal reasons so they created the name notebook.

Same thing. Different terms. A laptop computer is usually known simply as a "laptop" (also notebook computer or notebook)

Same Technologies, in Europe i believe they call it Laptop and in North America Notebook.
