It may or may not work, AND Windows XP will recognize the hard step that it recognized on the old computer and it WILL NOT ACTIVATE, to many hard steps changed, motherboard, processor, RAM, etc. Windows will only let you change 3 hardsteps before Re-Activation, you may end up on the phone explaining to a MS Tech Why the significant change... Good Luck

That depends if the XP is for using only on HP computers, you're going to need to re-install XP with a OEM version and use the same serial, but if the XP isn't protected you can use it.

You will definately be able to access your files, but Windows will probably not boot and will give you the Blue Screen of Death upon startup...there is a chance that Windows will continue to work, but it's very unlikely. If you do a Repair install of Windows that should fix the problem though. Your data will be fine.

As Yoi 55 wrote you will probably not get a successful boot. M$ Windows XP is a very selfish OS and when it thinks it is in a different computer (and yours will look different) it thinks you are trying to cheat M$. You must contact M$ and tell them your situation and hope for a sympathetic ear. I have heard of successes.
This is one of the reasons I am switching to Linux.
