I currently have a four year old DELL desktop computer with the big tower. I'm looking for something more powerful for graphic design capapbilities (no games) but in a laptop. Can anyone recommend a good replacement for the desktop? I'd like to stick with a PC not a MAC and something affordable?

My agp video card died, and I want to make sure there is nothing wrong with the agp slot BEFORE I BUY another agp card. Is there a way to check the status of my agp slot on Windows xp? Thanks.

It is only 6 months old and it started changing colors about three days ago. I can still see everything on the screen, but these different shades of pink tint everything. I ran my virus scan to see if that was the problem, but no viruses were found. I used the systen restore to go back two months and that didn't help either. Does anyone know what is wrong?

I have a video card that is a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 which has a 7 PIN S/Video Port on it. i want to connect it to the new big tv screen we have. the TV does have a S-Video on the back but im not sure how many PINs. and i do have RCA for the VCR & TV i have tried this befor useing a S-Video on another tv that was smaller but it was kinda like poor. Using the big screen TV how can i connect this PC to the TV with haveing it being Clear no Poor ness?

I'm taking out my harddrive from my HP Compaq computer and putting it into a new case with a new motherboard and new everything. the new motherboard's chipset it different too and the processor is an athlon compared to the old celeron.. I've windows XP on that harddrive so will it work or no?? HP/Compaq did not gimme a windows XP cd they installed it on there so i don't have one but i can borrow one.. I really hope this works.. gimme some explanations ppl.. thanx a lot..Also the mobo's manufacturer is different from the old one..

I've just installed a cd writer but I'm having problems with it. It only plays certain cd's, it won't play copied discs at all and only a handful of originals. Have I connected it right or is the drive faulty?

I've decided to buy a laptop and have been lately searching for comments and reviews on the net but most of them are very confusing! Loads say Dell are great but many others say the'r terrible and the Sony reviews I read were all terrible. I know apple are the best but here nobody uses Mac!! many suggested I should buy a fujitsu siemens but the 3 siemens mobiles I bought were disasteous!

I'm sort of new to using computers.But I have a windows 98 system,2 days ago,I had the "clouds" as my backround screen all of a sudden,they went gray.Now all color is way off,pictures are faded looking,and I get no sound.I did defrag,disk clean up,and ran nortons antivirus.I tried everything I could think of in "help" section.What do I do?

While using my computer the mouse was fine, then suddenly the clicker(arrow on the screen) starts to lag as i try to move it with my mouse. Then suddenly, it just stops. It wont move at all and it wont click. I can still see the arrow on my screen. Its been really hard getting here using just my keyboard.

I'm thinking about building a new desktop. I'm a regular reader of maximum pc but those mobos are ridiculously pricey and way beyond my purposes. I was having trouble starting it up, it would power up but nothing will show on the screen.. i can hear the hd, cpu fan and cd-roms spinning but no screen.. so i went and got a brand new motherboard, cpu, hd and power supply... i made sure i installed everything correct, i checked all the jumpers on da motherboard but everything looks ok, i even tried different ram and video card but nothing... what else can be the problem??
