I'm sort of new to using computers. But I have a windows 98 system,2 days ago,I had the "clouds" as my backround screen all of a sudden, they went gray. Now all color is way off, pictures are faded looking, and I get no sound.I did defrag, disk clean up,and ran nortons antivirus.I tried everything I could think of in "help" section. What do I do?

Right click on your desktop and select Properties. This should bring up your display settings (if not go to the control panel and open Display). Select the Settings tab. Make sure the Color Quality drop down is set to 32 Bit (or the highest it can be set to on your system)

I also have to agree with the upgrade your computer sentiment in the previous answers. Windows 98 is no longer supported by Microsoft, so any newly discovered bugs will not get fixed by MS leaving your computer vulnerable. If you can't afford to upgrade to XP, I personally recommend installing Linux. If you need help with that feel free to ask more questions.

Click Start>Control Panel>Display>Settings. Make sure you have the highest color scheme available, and for the sound, you have to make sure you have the right drivers installed. I'd put money on the fact that you need Realtek drivers for your sound.

Try using Windows Update for hardware drivers.

I think the virus name is winstall.exe its in your hard drive in drive c:\ delete it there on the main directory

winstall.exe is an executable file that is responsible for launching parasites, loading main components of malicious programs and running a destructive payload. It is a significant part of a dangerous parasite, but can also function as a stand-alone threat. DO NOT run this file!

if u right clikk ur background it should say properties...click that then find the tab that says settings...i think on urs itz either appearance or settings....then adjust the color tab/size.....there's 800 by 600 pixels(thats the size) and then there's a part that has the color(it should say 16 bit to 32 bit)....the size depends on ur preference...usually they'll give u a preview before they change it and ask if u want to keep it that way but if they dont ur going to have to keep changing it until u find the one u want....about ur sound.....go to ur control panel...u should find that after clicking my computer...after u clikk that, go to the icon that says audio controls and turn them up......if none of this works...i think you should call ur customer service for ur computer!=D
