While using my computer the mouse was fine, then suddenly the clicker(arrow on the screen) starts to lag as i try to move it with my mouse. Then suddenly, it just stops. It wont move at all and it wont click. I can still see the arrow on my screen. Its been really hard getting here using just my keyboard.

Thanks everyone. I tried cleaning out my PS/2 ball mouse but it didnt help. It was pretty messy in there though. I ended up buying a new optical mouse, and its working very well. Thanks for the help.

2 questions....
Is the mouse a PS2 (one with a ball under it) or an optical one (one with a light under it)
If it's one with the ball....chances are VERY GOOD that it either needs cleaning severely or something may be jammed in the ball/roller assembly...
To clean your mouse - flip the mouse over there should be a cover where the ball is - follow directions on how to open it.
Remove the ball and the cover, set the ball into the groove on the cover. Then get a Q-tip wet with rubbing alcohol & start cleaning the assemblies inside (you should see a wheel looking thingie in there...and also 2 long bar looking thingies on each side.
clean them all getting all the caked on stuff off of em.
(I know it's kinda gross...but hey, it has to be done)
Once clean, inspect the mouse ball for any chips, dirt or stuff stuck on it...if clean then put the ball back into the mouse and replace cover and make sure cover is secured...mouse should work fine...if not, check connections on the back of your computer to verify mouse is fully plugged in. From that point...if these steps did not work. Replace the mouse with a new one. They're fairly inexpensive.
Good Luck!

Someone could be controlling your PC!
OK.
1.You never told us what version of windows you are running? Win 95/98/SE/ME/NT/2K/XP/2003? Also your Hardware.
2.And what mouse are you using? Microsoft/Logitech/Generic? And its connection: Serial or PS/2 or USB? Is it Wired or Wireless? And If Wireless what technology? RF/IR/Blue-Tooth?
3.Lastly, what do you think caused the problem? you installed something or pulled the plug accidentally or what exactly?
After answering these question help would be easier! ;)

Goto control panel>system>hardware>device manager.
Click mice and other point devices, right click on the mouse icon, choose properties, and choose do not use this device (disabled), then click ok.
Press alt+F4 to restart your computer.
When your computer restart, it will find your mouse.
