When I view my system information, regarding the motherboard resources, it reads "no drivers are installed for this device". Is this the reason why I can no longer view any DVDs? If so, how do I proceed?

need info such; Core Duo vs AMD Turion 64 or Sempron 3400+.
DVD +/- RW (dual layer) vs Blue Ray Disk (is available yet?) dimention, weight.
Most of all Durability, Reliability and efficiency.
I'm looking into security aswell (anti theft mechanism, HDD, OS protection)
Shock protection and what's not & what's HOT etc...

The caser and keyboard and processor do not respond to any action you take.It hangs virtually.

I'm thinking about buying a new Powerbook.
1200 Euros for the repairation is over any psychological barrier, and just to get bakc to the previous state: a slow -comparig to the new MacBooks- G4.

I had a bagillion bookmarks and they all dissappeared, plus my home page is set back to default. Is there any way I can find my bookmarks on my hard drive?

This happened after I shut my power off during a thunderstorm. Lightning nearly hit the house and I didn't want a power surge to destroy my comp so I just shut the power strip off.

I'm a college student, looking for a reliable, fairly big external hard drive. But the less expensive the better, because I am on a pretty tight budget.

It doesn't have to be brand new on the market, pretty or small. I think it would be less expensive to buy one that's come out a few years ago, what are your thoughts on this? And any reccommendations on a couple of the older goodies?

My current laptop has a capacity of 60gb, and It's almost full, and lately I've had to make some rough choices on what to keep and what to get rid of. I'll be using the hard drive to store Home Videos, TV shows, Thousands of Mp3's, Pictures, and a backup of this computer to use throughout college. Minimally I should get a 160gb, maybe more if I'm planning on storing lots of TV shows.. I'm just not sure of what size.

I'd be accessing it a lot though, to watch the TV shows, listen the music. So I guess that means it should have a good rpm speed too.?

Any specific model recs would be great, thanks!

when i charge my computer, the battery power goes on for only about 30 minutes when i try to go wireless. do i need a new battery that will last longer or something? and to charge the battery you just plug the adapter into the laptop and just let it sit right? sorry i'm kind of new at this. and yes, this happens even when i charge it for days. my laptop runs on windows xp professional and it's a dell latitude c600. please answer.

...also, I currently use a pctv vision (software 5.7)...but the PCTV assistant fails in the last step of installation saying "test failed maybe no interrupt is assigned to your hardware etc.," and in the device manager under "PCTV capture device" it shows a yellow indication (in XP)...in properties - device is not working properly...please help

I had Windows 2000 and then we installed Windows XP on my computer. After Windows XP was installed I no longer had sound working on my computer--which sucks!! I went to the Device Manager and next to the C-Media AC97 Audio Device theres a yellow (!). I tried using the troubleshooter and that didn't get me anywhere. I also tried uninstalling the device and the reinstalling it but the C-Media AC97 Audio Device still has the yellow (!) and still says - Device cannot start (Code 10). The only sound my computer makes is a beep when an alert message comes up or when I press the lock keys (caps,num,scroll). I reaaaaaaaaally want sound back on my computer!!!!!!!! Anyone know how to FIX this!!!????
(also I don't have the brand name of my computer- it was put together my other computer parts)

My computer at work has no sufficient admin privileges so I can't install softwares. IT needs to reformat it last time so my person files and applications were removed from the system.

Previously, I copied a bat file used by one IT to install and I just modified it. but now its no longer working.

Is there a way?

i have tried to put the memory in slot 3, where as I have 4 slots in total, I have also looked in the Bios steup, and there is no option to enable dual channel, but I have changed my memory shared to 128, thanks for the info on that, just trying to work out how to get the dual channel to work??? As it is still saying single channel!!!
