Does this just happen to one particular DVD, or all of them? Is your laptop plugged in to AC power, or is it running off the battery? Sometimes, the power management settings on a laptop might be set to conserve power when not connected to an AC source--this might cause some issues as your CPU cuts down on the processing power needed to smoothly read and interpret the information on your DVD.

Another possibility is that you may have too many programs running at the same time, which, again, limits how much CPU processing power is devoted to playing the DVD.

One thing you might want to try is to see whether a conventional DVD player or a desktop computer can play your DVD.

My DVD skips during the Matrix Revolutions. Some DVDs just don't work right in some DVD players.
