When I view my system information, regarding the motherboard resources, it reads "no drivers are installed for this device". Is this the reason why I can no longer view any DVDs? If so, how do I proceed?

Should I update the drivers?

YOU HAVE TO GO INTO CONTROL PANEL, SYSTEM,DEVICE MANAGER. AND THEN SELECT THE DVD DRIVE(ONE CLICK TILL IT TURNS BLUE). THEN RIGHT CLICK IT AND SELECT "UPDATE DRIVER". THIS IS ASSUMING YOU HAVE DOWNLOADED A NEW DRIVER. THE COMPUTER WILL THEN SEARCH FOR THE DRIVER AND WHEN IT FINDS THE MOST SUITABLE DRIVER, IT WILL INSTALL IT AUTOMATICALLY. YOU MAY THEN HAVE TO RESTART THE COMPUTER. YOU ALSO HAVE TO HAVE A 3RD PARTY DVD PLAYER(SOFTWARE). LIKE POWERDVD. AND THEN IF IT IS PHYSICALLY CONNECTED CORRECTLY, THEN IT SHOULD WORK. OTHERWISE IT MAY BE THE CABLE CONNECTIONS OR THE JUMPER ON THE DVD. YOU HAVE TO CHECK ALL OF THAT FIRST. SOMETIMES, I USED TO GET THE IDE CABLE FLIPPED UPSIDE DOWN FROM WHERE IT SHOULD BE. YOU SHOULD CHECK ALL OF THAT TOO. IF YOU STILL DON'T GET IT GOING, EMAIL ME AND I WILL WALK U THROUGH IT. joe_mccn@yahoo.com. MY NAME IS JOE.

you will need the driver installation disk that comes with your DVD player. This will enable you to watch DVD on your PC. If you are still having some problem, please do check whether the driver is properly installed, and the program running it can play DVD. Some like WMP are sometimes unable to run DVD without CODEC (language package for reading media file).
