I have two laptops that seem to turn on and run, but the laptop screens remain completely black. You can't see anything on them. What is wrong with them?

If you can hear it booting up but there is no video there are a few things it could be.
1) It could be the backlight has went out. Usually fairly cheap to fix if you get a tech who knows what hes doing.(under $100)
2) The inverter has went out. Again, not to expensive if the tech doesnt spend 3 hours trying to diagnose the problem.(Under $100)
3) LCD panel had died. expensive as hell. Hope you have insurance.($300-800 depending on the screen + labor)
My suggestion would be to find a reputable shop with a tech who knows his way around a laptop (they are harder to find than you would think) and have him/her take a look at it.
