Computer Networking - March 2007

I keep geting booted off line and the local area connection will automatically try to reconnect but wont be able to then EVERY time i have to go under "tools" and UNCHECK work offline every single time.... Is there any way to fix this problem Im tired of gettin knocked off. I can get back on eventually but I dont understand why it automatically clicks the work offline box automatically... I am not great with computers can someone help? Thanks I will appreciate it! ;o)

Is it possible to configure the Netgear DG834G v2 router to work with the new BT Voyager Modem with VOIP? I think this means disabling the ADSL modem part of the router and just using it as a Wireless access point - but I can't find instructions on how to make one of the ethernet ports into an uplink port - for the cable from the Voyager box. Any help?

that are connected with same isp and internet speed as one computer, (through wireless routers)

does the internet go 3 times slower than if it would with only 1 computer that is connected

like if the speed was 3 kbps then since we have 3 computers it would be divided by three, and then each computer would have 1 kbps

am i right or am i right

im having an argument with someone about it.lol.

I have 2 computers running windows xp, and a printer wired into my wireless router I have a laptop running windows vista I can connect to the internet and the printer, but can't see my other computers

I have a wireless network and I can use the printer wirelessly from my laptop. I can also use folder options and enable file sharing. BUT the problem is that the shared folders only show up when I share it from my desktop (network host) When I share a folder on the laptop it does not show on the desktop. Any ideas why and how to fix this?

To facilitate this, staff will only be allowed to access web content on any server outside the organization, using ports HTTP(80) and SSL(443). Assuming you have Linux machine, what software solutions would you use to satisfy this requirement. What other software solutions/extensions will you need to consider to make this work? Do you think there is a need for policy - if so explain why? Finally what other technical changes will you need to make to client systems, servers or the network to enforce this?

ok so here it is.. I have a Xbox 360 and one day i went out...meanwhle my brother tried to connect to xboxlive and he said he did something with the ip address or something he dosnt know.. So here is my question. I CANT CONNECT TO MY MODEM!! it should be ez to connect to my modem if its connect4ed to my computer rite?? i shut off modem turn on modem insert ethernet cord from xbox to modem and BANG i have Xbox Live? i resested the ip address for the counsole buyt have no idea wat im doing cause im noobish. can someone tell me a run down from the beginning to get xbox live with a modem connected to a computer?? This is sorta confusing so stay with me. I have a laptop that can pick up wireless internet. I also have a desktop that can pick it up. I live in an apartment and we get our internet through the ethernet port in the wall. When you first get on the internet since we live in an apartment complex you need a password and username. I know those. I also have a wireless router(lynksys). We dont have a modem, we dont need a modem for our internet, just the ethernet cord connected to the port. How can I hook up wireless? lol I know its a little confusing but hopefully someone is smart enough to help me out!

I've got a netgear with 4 1Gb ports and two W2K3 servers, each with two Gb NICs. The switch has a 12Gb backbone. I want to create a 2Gb pipeline from server A to server B through the switch. All NICs are on the same subnet (xxx.xxx.xxx.1 and 2 for server A; xxx.xxx.xxx.254 and 253 for server B) Other than configuring the switch for trunking, is there anything else I need to do server-side to make this work?

It's strange. Up to a week or two ago I didn't have this problem. Now I can't seem to access www.geocities.com I can edit my site but just can't seem to access it. I can ping www.geocities.com and get 66.218.77.68 but neither http://66.218.77.68 or http://www.geocities.com seem to work for http. Really strange can anyone help me diagnose this technical problem?

I did everyting I could, but nothing worked, I am gonna give Up, really. I did what you guys told me to do, but the prompt little box for DI-604 user name and password is still not working. I don't know what to do. All I need is to open that port 60260/tcp so I could download the game. I have the programm and it's playnow version 1.0.22

I saw a little hole thing , but I held it down for about 10 seconds as you guys said, but ti didn't work either. I unplugged the power of my router and holding the little hole , nothing worked. I don't know what to do. I just want to Open another programm but everytime they say that I had to open the port 60260/tcp for download , and when I put my ip stactic 192.168.0.1 and the prompt popped Up , I put user name admin , and the password admin or blank, but nothing works. I just need help please, Could you guys tell me what I have to do now, because I am so confused, please help!!!

I set up an Roaming Profile, on the same pc as the Local PRofile, and it came up an error message.

Windows did not load your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server when you logoff. Windows did not load your profile because a server copy of the profile folder already exists that does not have the correct security. Either the current user or the Administrator's group must be the owner of the folder. Contact your network administrator.




What happened?

Is it that I have to use a networked pc, because I set the Roaming Profile on the smae pc that where is the Local PRofile?

Please help.
