im using linux 7.3 at work (pretty old) and we've decided to change the time no 3/11 and 11/4 manually. i know to change the system and the hardware clock. im confused between clock, adjtimex, etc., and whether i should set UTC to true as a better setting.
simplest one i know is date -ss hh:mm.

can someone tell me the commands you will run to accomplish this?

The other day, my computer teacher took control of another students computer through his. I do not believe this was remote desktop. Whatever he did on his computer showed up on the other. He would move his cursor, and the cursor on the other computer would move where he wanted it. He would type on his computer, and it would appear on the other computer also. My curiosity is dieing to know how this works. All the computers are running on a students server. I don't know if that has any affect, but does anybody know how to do this?

So here's the problem. I have two computers both running Xp SP2, and I'm trying to use an ethernet connection and router to connect them for networking. I ran the network setup on the host computer (the one whose files I'm trying to access), and then the other one. I go into network connections on my newer computer (not the host), it has a folder saying shared documents on Intel(editingstation), which is that computer itself. Then click on entire network, and it shows the workgroup, I click on that, and it shows the Intel (not host) and the AMD (host). However, I can only click and open the Intel computer, and whenever I try to access the host computer (AMD), it always fails. All the above was when I was on the non-host computer. On the host, I can't even see the other computer, or itself. Also, I am getting Internet on the Intel, so that means that it is not a physical problem. Can anyone please help? Thanks!

hi, I am connecting to public hub that many people are using it, so the connectivity slow down often or cut off. because of the load on it, and most of that people are using this connection to surf internet and play games online, I need the connection to be reserved for few people so the speed or the connectivity won't be over loaded. I asked my network provider to find a solution for this problem, but he dose not want to but another hub and lose more money. Can I manage the number of people who can connect to hub or reserve the connection for a while?
thanks...

I am trying to setup a TrendNet TV-IP100 internet camera. I finally got it to work at home(i.e. I can view the video from the internet camera at home on my home computer). However I am at work now and I just typed in the IP address of the camera and it simply isnt connecting to the camera. I left the camera on at home(its still hooked up to my computer). The camera instructions say something about "entering the valid DNS IP address number for my Internet camera" and "Open Second Port". Is the DNS IP address the same as the cameras IP address? Please help becasue this camera is driving me crazy!

OK, so i have done a fresh install of Windows Xp Pro, on a freinds laptop, he had 137 Viruses on his pc, so the set up all went perfectly.

Then i come to connect it to the internet with the ethernet cable, ran the ntl setup disk, wont work, it will connect fine though, with a usb lead.

So i connected to the net with a usb lead, updated the drivers for the modem, tried running it again. doesnt work.
Problem is, his PC has to connect using ethernet, and also he doesnt have the correct leads.

When i unplug the ethernet cable, i get a prompt saying, "network connection unplugged", and in the network status it says it is connected.

The NTL installer says it cannot complete installation due to DHCP problems, and an unrecoverable IP

HELP!

Hi Guys! - My new wireless router refuses to work wirelessly!

It works fine when the Ethernet lead is connected but as soon as you remove it you lose the connection between the computer and router.
My laptop is a new wifi one and yes the switch on the front is on showing a wireless connection is required.
Have been in touch with the manufacturers of the router and they have 'promised' to get an engineer to phone back - yeah right!that was three days ago.

Please help - I'm getting really frustrated with this problem.

If you are connected to broadband with a dsl connection and you have 3 computers in the house

that are connected with same isp and internet speed as one computer, (through wireless routers)

does the internet go 3 times slower than if it would with only 1 computer that is connected

like if the speed was 3 kbps then since we have 3 computers it would be divided by three, and then each computer would have 1 kbps

am i right or am i right

im having an argument with someone about it.lol.
thnx for reading
:)
