not a computer or technological genius by any stretech of the imagination, so please be kind and no acronyms LAN, WAN, WISP all that I don't know what half of it means

well if its not your own network, it might have dissappeared. another thing is someone might have put up what is called a "MIMO" router that eats up bandwidth and shortens the range that other routers would have in the area

or it could be something simple like windows internet explorer 7 being installed... uninstall that (in add/remove programs) and search microsoft for the IE7 auto update block toolkit to prevent it from installing in auto updates again
this seems to be a common problem and resolution for users lately
