It should have a small reset button in the back.
You will need a paperclip to press it.
Hold it in for about 5 seconds.

It will reset to factory defaults.

If you don't have the manual, go to netgear's website and read the directions on how to set it up for the first time.

Most of them will auto-detect their situation and work fine, but you need to go into the router and change the password, so you can't just plug it in and forget about it.

Also - and this is very important - after you reset it, you must shut down the cable modem, router, and your PC.
Then turn on the cable modem, wait 30 seconds, then turn on the router, wait 30 seconds for it to boot up and talk to the cable modem, then turn on your PC.

If you don't turn all three off and turn them on in the correct order - the first time - they will not configure themselves correctly and it won't work.

There shuold be a reset botton on the router itself. It will look like a little pin hole. Press and hold for about 10 seconds and that should reset you. Then you may need to reload your router in your computer.

This should work.

Unplug your router from your pc system
Turn the router off - or unplug it
Leave it for about 30 minutes to an hour

When you next plug it in it should have reseted to factory settings. Most routers are set to perform this function.

Just power the router down for about 30 SECONDS! You don't need to shut it down for a freakin' hour! Sheesh!!!
