Okay here are a few questions about wireless internet that I need to know;

1. Can you buy a wireless box thing i think its called a router? And hook it up to a computer and use wireless connection?

2. Can you buy a linksys box (router?) and hook it up to your laptop and make it stronger?

3. Do you have to pay for the box (router?) every month or so?

4. I can use linksys on my laptop, but it is not very reliable because I move around the house, and I usually loose the signal, will that box (router) make the signal stronger and Ican pick it up any where?

5. is the box only for DSL? because there is no DSL provider in my town.

Thank you!

Ok, I need to hook up wireless for my laptop, but until I can afford to do that I need someone that can tell me what is wrong so I can use my laptop instead of this other computer cause my laptop is a lot faster and I like my laptop setup better. Ok, getting to the point, it is road runner internet, I have done this before by just taking the ethernet cable out of the back of this computer and hooking it into mine and it has worked, I try it now and it just says limited or no connectivity. Why is this and how can I get it to work?

Essentially I have my Cable modem hooked through a wireless router which is then connected to my desktop via an ethernet cable.

I wirelessly connect to the web through my laptop.

I can't seem to figure out how to set up a home network with this system. As far as I can tell windows networking requires my desktop to have a wireless adapter as well, even though it is connected to the wireless router.

I'm sure I'm being very stupid here and that this should be a simple thing to do.

If not is there any way around the need to get a wireless card for my desktop?

(I'm running Windows XP on both machines).

Thanks!

I have a Belkin Wireless router and i constantly get a Systematic Proxy Error message and it disables my internet connection. I was told by a computer specialist that this is because too many computers are using my internet (i have 2 computers, he suggest they're probably neighbors) he stated that if i encrypt my internet I will not receive the message.

I don't understand how to, I tried using the software i got when i bought the router...but It doesn't state anything in regards to setting up an encryption.
