As long as you have some sort of firewall or antivirus running on your computer, you shouldn't have any issues. I leave mine running all the time so that anytime I come home I can walk in and just connect to my wireless device. I haven't had any problems with people hacking or anything.

I worked for a national cable company for over 17yrs before retiring and the modems we had hooked up in the office were always left on as well as my own modem at the house. We never had a problem due to the modem being left on. HOWEVER the advice about a good firewall being installed and operating can not be stressed too much. If your computer and other equipment is on and running they could be compromised by hackers and viruses. Many of the modems have a setting to disconnect the output while still being connected and up. This will give you an added security measure and the modem is still able to receive any global updates your service provider sends out.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with leaving it on. in fact, your modem is designed to do exactly that.(be left on all the time) when you leave your modem on it keeps an established connection, which in turn gives you the best connection when you actually need to use it. when you turn it off and then turn it on you may have a little bit of initial "bogging" in your system while it tries to get that connection back. to avoid this slow operation it is best to leave your modem on. if you are trying to conserve power keep in mind that your refrigerator is using about 10,000 times more power than your modem is. so if you want to save power unplug the fridge.lol on the other hand these modems most likely carry a two year warranty and or are provided by your Internet provider who has a service program and will more than likely no questions asked just replace it for you. i hope you lead a prosperous life leaving your modem on all day...lol

It's fine. My cable modem has been on every day for about 3 years. You don't ever need to turn it off. That's the beauty of a LAN line instead of dial up, it's always on.

Leave it on. I leave mine on 24/7 because my home phone is through SunRocket, and it requires internet access. Only $200 a year for a phone, all the features you want, and long distance included.

It's okay to leave it on all day. I think that you should turn it off at night, before you go to bed. That will save electricity and energy.
